What is a solar tracker?

A solar tracker puts your panels on a structure that slowly turns to face the sun as it moves across the sky, instead of holding them at one fixed angle. Aran's tracker is self-powered — it runs itself with no outside power supply — and it's built for Indian sites, from small factory rooftops to big MW-scale plants.

Heat wears panels out faster, and in India's hot, humid weather real panel life is often shorter than the 25-year datasheet. Fixed panels sit close to the ground or roof and trap heat. The raised tracker turns a solar site into a two-in-one asset. The shade underneath suits shade-friendly crops and vegetables, fish ponds (fed by the reused cleaning water), cattle, and controlled farming — income on top of the power. 09Lower insurance costAlways-on fire safety and heat monitoring lower the risk.

Insurers price on risk. Aran's cleaning system keeps pressurised water across the panels at all times, ready to douse an electrical or heat fire — one of the costliest kinds of solar claim. The system also watches each panel's temperature and can trigger the water jet automatically if a panel gets too hot. Together, that lowers the risk insurers price in.

Bifacial panels make power from both faces, the back catching light bounced off the ground. On a fixed mount the back barely helps. As the Aran tracker turns, the back face catches reflected light from many angles in the morning and evening, and the raised height helps too. Normal cleaning is a big yearly cost — monthly labour, water and logistics over 25 years. Tracker rows sit further apart than fixed mounts so a turning panel doesn't shade the next one — so a pure-tracker layout fits fewer panels on the same land.

How much maintenance do the moving parts need?

Modern self-powered trackers have removed most of the complexity of older designs. Each row works on its own and reports its health, so problems are caught early. Simple checks are still needed, like any machine, but downtime is small and predictable. We share the maintenance plan with every quote.
